Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders in the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory want to make sure that when a new believer joins one its 21,000 congregations, he or she will be spiritually nurtured, discipled, and become actively involved in the life of the church. The message was loud and clear during a special retention conference held yesterday for ministers, evangelists, and active members, as thousands of evangelistic campaigns are wrapping up across the IAD territory this week.
Twenty-five deaf people were baptized in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s first deaf baptisms in Burundi as church members step up efforts to share the gospel with the hearing impaired across East Africa. A total of 27 people were baptized during a joyous ceremony at the Kamenge Seventh-day Adventist Church in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura, on March 25. In addition to the 25 deaf people, the baptismal candidates included a blind person and a hearing person.

The president of Guyana attended a special rededication service at a Seventh-day Adventist church in the capital city of Georgetown on March 19, as part of a week-long celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the country. During the service at the refurbished Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, President David Granger, addressed members and visitors, urging them to help strengthen the institution of the family, reported the Ministry of the Presidency of the South-American nation.
