Duncan recently visited the British Virgin Islands Adventist School for a special assembly to commemorate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. “It is a special time for the British Virgin Islands whose link to the crown stretches back over 300 years,” said Governor Duncan to more than 300 pupils and teachers. The visit by the governor was intended to engender support for the celebrations and to help students appreciate their history.
Former U.S. basketball star Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr. has donated more than half a million dollars to Oakwood University and the Oakwood University Church in appreciation for the influence that Seventh-day Adventists have had on his life. Johnson, 56, who was raised in an Adventist family, retired from basketball in the 1990s and became a wealthy businessman with interests in entertainment and sports. Three Seventh-day Adventist clinics operating on the sidelines of a major evangelistic series in Rwanda have provided free medical treatment to more than 4,500 patients and will likely exceed their goal of 6,000, the church’s top doctor for East Africa said Wednesday. Hundreds of people have waited in long lines for free medical, dental, and vision care from 130 doctors and nurses in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali; the lake resort of Gisenyi; and the southern city of Butare.

Attendees met at a campground in Matagalpa where they spent two days hearing messages from Adventist Theologian Dr. Angel Manuel Rodriguez and former Biblical Research Director at the Adventist World Church Headquarters in Maryland, United States.
