Adventist schools in North Caribbean region interact online during special day of prayer

For the fifth consecutive year, teachers and students throughout schools of the North Caribbean Conference put away their academic activities in their classrooms on Mar. 6, to reflect on God’s blessings, pray, study the Bible and participate in a day of prayer for schools. Education leaders at the North Caribbean Conference said that this year was historic because for the first time all the schools came together to share in the occasion through the software application Skype, where all the schools were able to share in the program while viewing the presentations of the other schools.

53 Adventist Churches Destroyed by Cyclone Pam

The number of Seventh-day Adventist churches destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Pam has risen from 18 to 53 as church leaders count the cost of the March 14 storm on the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. In addition, multiple buildings were destroyed at six Adventist schools, and hundreds of church members lost their homes, including 20 pastors and 100 teachers.

In Inter-America, educators and administrators commit to strengthening Adventist education

Seventh-day Adventist Church administrators and teachers from across the Inter-American Division (IAD) publicly committed to continuing to strengthen Adventist education. They made that commitment during a special online education congress held in Miami, Florida, this weekend. The event gathered more than 100 primary and secondary school teachers at the IAD headquarter office and hundreds more met in homes, schools and auditoriums across Inter-America for the eight-hour program.

Inter-America to hold online pastoral evangelism summit

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will hold an online evangelism summit for ministers across the territory, on Mar. 30-31, 2015. The live summit will be webcast from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, in English, Spanish and French. The summit will serve to strengthen the spirit of public evangelism among district pastors within the Division territory, organizers say.

Church leaders challenged to prioritize mental health during General Conference week of prayer

Church leaders were challenged to prioritize mental health in their ministry as well as in their own lives during a week of spiritual emphasis held at Seventh-day Adventist World Headquarters. The week of prayer was led by Dr. Neil Nedley who spoke to employees in Silver Spring, Maryland. During the four-day series, Nedley emphasized the integration of spiritual well-being with that of physical, mental and emotional health.

In Inter-America, Congress promotes religious freedom across the region

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America held it’s second religious liberty congress in the city of Medellin, Colombia, Mar. 18-19, 2015. The conference gave church leaders in the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory the opportunity to talk about the importance of strengthening relations between church and state, as well as reinforcing the presence of the International Religious Liberty Association (IRLA) across the region.

Online congress to set marks for the future of education in Inter-America

Adventist Educators and church administrators from across the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory will meet for an education congress on Saturday, Mar. 28, at the IAD headquarters in Miami, Florida. The event will be streamed live over the internet, starting at 10:00 a.m., Miami time.

Two Adventists detained in Bangladesh

The Seventh-day Adventist Church said Tuesday that two Adventists were detained in Bangladesh on unclear charges. They have been released from custody ahead of a court hearing, church spokesman Garrett Caldwell said.

Adventist Church offers condolences after plane crash in France

A Germanwings Airbus A320 plane carrying 150 people crashed March 24 in the foothills near Digne-les-Bains, in the Alpes de Haute Provence in southeastern France, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls told reporters. Valls said he fears those aboard the flight from Barcelona (Spain), to Dusseldorf (Germany) may be dead. French President Francois Hollande also said no survivors were expected. „The conditions of the accident are not yet clear but lead us to believe there will be no survivors," Hollande said.

Adventists to pray 100 days for General Conference Session

Seventh-day Adventist believers worldwide will soon begin praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the upcoming General Conference session as part of a call to spiritual renewal and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The 100 Days of Prayer program, which starts on March 25, aims to fulfill a plan that Adventist Church cofounder Ellen G. White said God was unable to realize for the church at the 1901 General Conference session in Battle Creek, Michigan.

In Colombia, Adventists bring smiles to thousands in Medellin

Thousands of Seventh-day Adventists in Medellin, Colombia, brought a smile, hope, and a health message to more than 80,000 people during a city-wide impact initiative held on Mar. 14, 2015. The activity, coined as “A Smile for Medellin”, saw hundreds of students and faculty from Colombia Adventist University joined by thousands of church members eager to make the 2.1 million-populous-city, the happiest city in Colombia, organizers said.

Thousands of Seventh-day Adventist young people in Inter-America engaged in a day of spreading kindness and hope in their communities and cities during the Global Youth Day initiative held on Mar. 21, 2015. Sponsored by the Adventist world church’s youth ministries department, the Global Youth Day annual event motivates young people around the world to “be the sermon” as they show the love of Jesus in their communities.
