CNN television is featuring Loma Linda University and the surrounding Seventh-day Adventist community in southern California on a program about how to live a longer, healthier life. The 30-minute program, “Vital Signs with Dr. Sanjay Gupta,” is being broadcast on CNN International throughout February and tackles the question, “What can one do to live a healthier, happier, and longer life?”
Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the main campus of Adventist University Africa (AUA) on Sunday to support the construction of a new Health Sciences complex. In a speech to a crowd of nearly 4,000, Kenyatta pledged his financial support for the initiative and commended the Adventist Church for being an “exemplary partner in transforming Kenya.”
More than 2,000 Seventh-day Adventist young people took to Jamaican streets last weekend to spruce up neighborhoods and encourage healthy lifestyles as part of a church initiative to keep youth away from crime. Crime is a growing problem among young people in Jamaica, and local Adventist leaders are fighting back with Operation Save A Youth, or O-SAY, which mobilizes young people to volunteer and help others in their communities and inspire at-risk peers.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s coordinated response to the Ebola crisis in West Africa includes eradication projects in the affected countries of Liberia and Sierra Leone, as well as support for several hospitals and more than two-dozen schools, most of which still remain closed. Support has come from throughout the denomination’s international network, including its world headquarters, Health Ministries department, Loma Linda University, Adventist Health International, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, Hope for Humanity, as well as schools, hospitals, churches and individual donors.
Seventh-day Adventist staffers distributed tens of thousands of copies of "Steps to Christ" and other Adventist books at the biggest book fair in the Arab world as they shared their love for Jesus and sought to dispel misinformation that the Adventist Church is not a Christian denomination. Kleyton Feitosa, president of the Adventist Church’s Egypt-Sudan Field, said the Church made significant inroads by organizing the booth at the 16-day Cairo International Book Fair, which attracted 2 million visitors and is considered the most important annual event in the Arab publishing world.
Top Seventh-day Adventist technology experts are promoting the concept of game creation for education and evangelism outreach. Their call came on the final day of the denomination’s Global Adventist Internet Network conference, which also featured presentations on how to operate an information technology department on a budget and an overview of the increasing popularity and uses of virtual currency, such as Bitcoin.
Day two of the Global Adventist Internet Network conference featured the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s top IT professionals dispensing advice and tips on cyber security, app development and the use of geographic software for more effective regional mission. GAiN this year is being held online and is drawing participants from nearly 70 countries.

Anastase Murekezi pledged continued government support of the institution to officials and supporters of Adventist University of Central Africa in Kigali.
Seventh-day Adventist Church Chief Information Officer Nancy Lamoreaux opened the denomination’s annual technology conference today by asking how the Church and its members plan to continue embracing technology to spread the gospel. Her question is one that will be answered over the next few days by experts on implementing emerging technologies for mission and delivery of education.

With more than 38,000 trained active members, the church in Guatemala is continuing to ensure that its leaders and active members get further certified to strengthen the church and continue sharing the gospel in their communities.
A record 2,000 Seventh-day Adventist couples from across Jamaica renewed their marital vows at a gathering where they learned that the key to a successful marriage is humility and the full surrender of self to God. The couples, young and old, waited in long lines at Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville, Jamaica, to gain free entrance to the couples’ conference, which is held once every five years and was organized by the Jamaica Union Conference.
