In the Dominican Republic, Adventists continue sharing hope during national outreach campaign

Seventh-day Adventists in the Dominican Republic shared messages of hope with hundreds of people in the city of Azua in the southern part of the island during a citywide impact on Oct. 22, 2016. Church leaders and members provided music and drama performances on Bible prophecy and distributed magazines at the Juan Pablo Duarte Park. The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in the Dominican Republic distributed dozens of backpacks filled with school supplies to needy children of the city in coordination with the Hispanic Association for Citizenship Development in the Dominican Republic.

Inter-America’s Health Food Company seeks to increase financial support for the church

Top managers of the Inter-American Health Food Company laid out plans and strategies to promote healthy foods and increase its monetary contribution toward the mission of the church across the territory, during its year-end board meeting held in Miami, Florida, on Oct. 25, 2016. “We want the Health Food Company to be an indispensable tool in the fulfillment of the mission in the territory where it operates,” said Filiberto Verduzco, treasurer of the church in Inter-America and president of Inter-American Health Food Company (IAHFC).

In Inter-America, Leaders approve initiatives for greater membership involvement

Getting more members involved in the mission of the church was one central point top level Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Inter-America focused on as day one of church business meetings began yesterday in Miami, Florida. The Year-End Executive Committee meetings, which took place via conference from the Inter-American Division (IAD) Headquarters, connected church leaders from across the 24 unions, or church regions, to vote on plans, initiatives, and activities for the next months and years.

Leather-Clad Adventist bikers share Jesus in Argentina

The long-haired, weather-beaten man wearing a biker’s vest and boots dropped in unannounced for Sabbath worship at a newly dedicated Seventh-day Adventist church in the central Argentine town of Crespo. The Crespo North church, the second Adventist church in the town of 18,000 people, had just morphed into a full-fledged congregation after being opened as a center of influence offering health talks and vegetarian-cooking classes to the community. Despite its unorthodox beginnings, the sight of seasoned motorcyclist Carlos Román was uncommon in the mostly mainstream congregation.

In Jamaica, Adventists and police officers march for peace in violence-ridden communities

Seventh-day Adventists from East Jamaica, along with senior police officers, recently marched for peace in sections riddled by violence in Western Kingston, Jamaica. Over the past few weeks, sporadic gunfire has claimed the lives of several people, including a two-year old girl, and injured more than a dozen. The police said the violence, which has been plaguing west region of the capital city in recent months, is gang-related.

In The Bahamas, ADRA and the church distribute supplies in the wake of Hurricane Matthew

Food, water, portable stoves, blankets, and tarps are some of the items that Seventh-day Adventist leaders and the local Adventist Development and Relief Agency have been distributing to the hundreds affected by Hurricane Matthew earlier this month. Matthew knocked down power lines, trees and brought in flood waters affecting hundreds of homes and several churches in the North Bahamas region. Church administrators flew into Grand Bahama Island, one the worst hit, to distribute water, generators, and chain saws.

St. Louis picked to host 2025 General Conference Session

General Conference Session will return to the U.S. city of St. Louis in 2025 after city leaders offered the Seventh-day Adventist Church free use of a convention center and heralded a multibillion-dollar upgrade of its downtown district and airport. World church leaders voted for St. Louis, Missouri, over Indianapolis, Indiana, after hearing presentations from representatives of both cities and a General Conference selection committee during Annual Council.

Adventist students share water in Mexico and scarves in Israel

Distributing free bottles of drinking water in Mexico. Clearing roadside trash in the United States. Staging a musical concert in the Philippines. Passing out hand-knitted hats and scarves in Israel. These are among the acts of kindness performed by thousands of Seventh-day Adventist students and young professionals last weekend as part of Global Public Campus Ministries (PCM) Weekend, a first annual event organized by the Adventist world church’s public campus ministries department.

Adventist Church presented with unique opportunity to reach out to the world’s Muslim population

In a presentation to the Executive Committee during the 2016 Annual Council, Petras Bahadur, director of the Global Center for Adventist Muslim Relations (GCAMR), talked about opportunities that exist through Centers of Influence such as hospitals, and schools for Seventh-day Adventists to reach out to Muslims in their community. On October 10, Bahadur discussed the needs and challenges of reaching out to the Muslim community and how the Adventist Church can meet those needs. GCAMR seeks to build bridges, bringing the two religions to a better understanding of one another, and present a different approach of expressing love and embracing the Islamic world while introducing Jesus.
