Guatemala: Government launches Adventist health initiative during youth congress

Thousands of Adventist young people demonstrated their dedication to living a healthy lifestyle as Guatemala’s Ministry of Health officials launched a health initiative from the National Palace of Culture Plaza, in Guatemala City earlier today. The event brought government leaders and health organizations together to promote the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s initiative called “I Want to Live Healthy.”

U.S. Adventist church opens doors to community after wildfire

The Brewster Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Northwestern U.S. state of Washington opened its doors to serve those affected by the Carlton Complex fire only hours after the church building itself was threatened by the flames of what has become the largest wildfire in state history. Homes around the church in the city of Brewster were evacuated Thursday evening after authorities issued a mandatory evacuation notice for the region. Flames from the wildfire were rapidly approaching the church vicinity and could be seen coming up over the hill to the south.

Volunteers Sought to Treat 5,000 Patients in San Antonio

If you have a DDS or OD after your name, Lela Lewis wants to meet you. Lewis, who has an MD and MPH after her name, is co-organizing an event that is expected to make waves next year in San Antonio, Texas: an opportunity for thousands of local residents to receive free medical care. Hundreds of volunteers, especially dentists (DDS) and optometrists (OD), are needed to care for the 5,000 to 6,000 people who are expected to show up at the AlamoDome stadium over three days.
